Prayer, the Most Powerful Force in the World
Over Five Billion Have This One Thing in Common. Prayer.
Today, we hear a lot about disagreements inside churches and religions. It might seem confusing, but let’s break it down in a way that’s easy to understand.
Inside the Christian faith, there have been many different versions of the Bible. The early Christians didn’t all read the same books. Some followed the Ethiopian Bible, others had the Book of Enoch or the Book of the Covenant. These books had stories and teachings that many Christians today may have never even heard of. Over time, church leaders picked and chose which books to include in the Bible most people read now. But not everyone agreed, and that caused some people to break off and form new churches.
The Muslim faith, which is the second-largest religion in the world, also has internal struggles. There are two main groups: Sunni and Shia Muslims. They believe in many of the same things, but they have different ideas about who should lead the Muslim community after the Prophet Muhammad died. This disagreement has caused arguments and even wars that continue to this day in some parts of the world. Sadly, many people have died because of these divisions.
So, if both Christians and Muslims have big disagreements within their own religions, what’s the point? Should we give up on faith?
No. We must elevate our thinking.
Because there’s one thing that all religions agree on—prayer.
Prayer is talking to God, Allah or the Supreme Being. You don’t need a special book, a fancy church, or even a certain religion to pray. You just need an open heart and a few quiet moments and a little faith.
All over the world, people from different religions pray. Some bow their heads, some kneel, others raise their hands or chant. But no matter how they do it, they’re all doing the same thing—reaching out to something greater than themselves.
So even if religion gets messy, even if leaders argue or books change, even if you don’t know which side to believe, don’t stop praying. Prayer is the one thing that lasts. When beliefs get confusing, prayer brings peace. When churches fight or people disagree, prayer still works. It comforts us. It guides us. And it reminds us that we are never alone.
Don’t give up on prayer. You don’t need all the answers. You just need to keep talking to God. Because in the end, when religion falls apart, prayer will still stand.
